"Me only have one ambition y'know. I only have one thing I would really like to see happen.  I like to see mankind live together."

"My fear is my only courage."

"The best thing about music is when it hits you, you feel no pain."

"I don't stand for the black man's side, I don't stand for the white man's side. I stand for God's side."

"Man can't do without God. Just like you thirsty you drink water. You just can't go without God."

Bob Marley was and always will be, considered a very peaceful, calm, and unique individual. Bob sadly lost his battle with cancer in 1981. Malignant melanoma is a very dangerous type of cancer that was first found on his toe. The Jamaican reggae legend injured his toe while playing soccer with friends. Like any other injury, Bob expected his toe to heal, but, surprisingly didn't. A trip to the doctors was necessary, and it was there that Bob was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in his toe. An amputation was highly recommended by doctors. Due to being a devout rustafarian, Bob bravely refused to have his toe removed.

Rustafarian is a type of way of life, religion, that developed in the 1930's in Jamaica. Rustafarian contains a mix of Christianity, Hinduism, New Age, Racism, Mysticism, and Voodoo beliefs. The six foundational principles of Rustafarianism are:

1. hatred for the white race

2. the complete superiority of the black race

3. revenge on whites for their wickedness

4. the negation, humiliation, and persecution of the legal and government bodies of Jamaica

5. perparation to go back to Africa

6. acknowledging Emperor Haile Selassie as THE SUPREME BEING and the only "ruler" of the black people

Bob was indeed a Rustarfarian, but he believed that racism can literally be cured of all people and wiped off the face of the Earth through music. Bob believed that all people should love one another and we are an entire human race. We aren't separate countries at war; we are ONE human race, united. Bob also believed that weed was a wonderful thing that has many great uses but that is a VERY controversial topic. Bob shockingly never won a single Grammy. But, is credited with spreading Jamaican music/ reggae to the worldwide audience and is considered by millions a remarkable, peaceful, and extremely talented human being.  Bob Marley & The Wailers was the reggae band that Bob Marley was the lead singer for. Some of their (his) most famous songs include: One Love (People Get Ready), No Woman No Cry, Buffalo Soldier,  Get Up Stand Up, Stir It Up, Three Little Birds, and there are many other peaceful, soothing, and meaningful songs out there.

Bob's music puts you in a great mood. His music literally makes you believe that everything will be all right. The peaceful yet upbeat rhythm to his songs is soothing and surprisingly calming. Also, his music gets across a message. I think the message that Bob intends to be heard is," we all need to love one another and not cause trouble over the pettiest of issues. God created us all the same, why treat eachother differently?" Don't believe me? Here are some of his songs, take a listen.
